Babies through to Toddlers

Babies in the first months of life find it exciting just to discover the postural reflexes and explore the balance mechanism.

Posture at work

Nowadays some of us lead fairly inactive lives, spending a large part of our day sitting down maybe slumped at a desk, or collapsed on the sofa at home. Habits like these can often lead to stiffness in your body making you inflexible as the years pass. Do you always hold the telephone with the same hand? or carry your bag or briefcase on the same side? Repetitive movements affect the symmetry of your body, and you can become more developed on opne side than the other. You will be given exercises to rebalance your muscles for better body alignment and in doing so improve your posture and general wellbeing.

As a pregnancy develops and the baby grows bigger normal posture changes and a strain is put on the joints, muscles , and all the soft tissue. Movement becomes more restricted and the blood supply to the tissue is reduced. Remedial exercises address all of these problems, pregnancy is a time to focus on stretching, relaxing and gentle toning.

Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids.

Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well aslymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet. There are over eighty different recognized massage modalities. The most cited reasons for introducing massage as therapy have been client demand and perceived clinical effectiveness

Children Picture

Children naturally have good posture, but time and habit can cause this to deteriorate

  • Elderly Walking

If slumping and slouching become habitual and the effects on the body are not corrected, the forward leaning posture becomes ingrained. Eventually it may be possible to walk only with a stick. Develop the habit of standing tall and you will be standing tall in your later years.
